Tata Motors is ready to introduce the updated 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift in India on February 20, 2026. The compact electric SUV will receive noticeable design upgrades and feature additions, while the battery options and claimed driving range will remain unchanged. Instead of focusing on mechanical changes, Tata has clearly chosen to enhance styling, in-cabin technology, and overall appeal. For buyers who were already considering the Punch EV, this update could make the package even more attractive without altering its proven electric setup.
Same Battery Options, Same Proven Performance
Mechanically, the 2026 Punch EV continues with two battery choices. Buyers can opt for a 25 kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of 265 km or a larger 35 kWh pack delivering up to 365 km on a single charge.
The smaller battery comes paired with an electric motor producing 82 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. The larger battery works with a more powerful motor rated at 121 bhp and 190 Nm.
Personally, I think Tata made the right decision by not changing the drivetrain. The existing setup is already practical for city use and occasional highway drives. Instead of chasing higher numbers, Tata seems focused on refining the overall experience. However, some buyers may have expected a slight range improvement to stay ahead of upcoming competition.
Bigger 12.3-Inch Infotainment Screen
One of the biggest upgrades inside the cabin is the new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. It is expected to feature Tata’s latest interface with smoother graphics and improved connectivity.
This is a welcome move because modern buyers expect larger and sharper displays even in compact SUVs. In my opinion, the bigger screen will significantly improve the cabin’s premium feel. Revised seat upholstery and new colour themes are also likely to create a fresher and more vibrant ambience.
There are also hints that advanced driver assistance features could be introduced, though official confirmation is still awaited. If Tata includes even basic ADAS elements, it would strengthen the Punch EV’s value proposition further.
Features Carried Forward
Despite the refresh, several popular features from the current model will continue. These are expected to include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone charging, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror.
Keeping these features ensures the Punch EV does not lose any of its existing strengths. Personally, I believe ventilated seats and the 360-degree camera are standout features in this segment and give the Punch EV a clear edge over many rivals.
Exterior Changes for a Sharper Look
The facelift brings subtle but noticeable changes to the exterior. The front fascia now gets a closed-off panel, and the black strip that earlier connected the headlamps has been removed. This gives the SUV a cleaner and sharper look.
The lower bumper has been redesigned with slightly larger air intakes, and the alloy wheels feature a new pattern inspired by Tata’s larger EV models.
A new vibrant exterior shade, similar to the bright yellow seen on Tata’s premium SUVs, will also be introduced. This will be paired with a contrasting black roof for a sportier appearance. From what we know so far, the rear will receive updated lighting elements, possibly including a connected light bar similar to the recently refreshed petrol version, along with a revised bumper.
Personally, I feel these changes will make the Punch EV look more mature and aligned with Tata’s newer design language. It is not a dramatic redesign, but it is enough to keep the model fresh.
Variants and Expected Pricing
The existing variant lineup of Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure, and Empowered trims is likely to continue unchanged.
A slight price increase is expected over the outgoing model once bookings open. Given the addition of a larger screen and cosmetic updates, a small hike would not be surprising. However, Tata will need to ensure pricing remains competitive, especially as more affordable electric SUVs are expected to launch soon.
