Suzuki Motorcycle India delivered a strong performance in January 2026, crossing the one lakh unit sales mark and climbing to fifth position in the overall two-wheeler manufacturers’ rankings. The growth was largely powered by the consistent success of the Access 125 scooter, which continues to remain the backbone of Suzuki’s domestic portfolio. Compared to 87,834 units sold during the same period last year, the company recorded a healthy 14.2 per cent year-on-year growth, securing a market share of 5.21 per cent. While scooters dominated overall volumes, Suzuki’s motorcycle lineup showed mixed performance across segments.

Access 125 Continues to Lead Suzuki’s Growth
The Access 125 remained Suzuki’s highest-selling product with 69,042 units, registering an impressive 26 per cent year-on-year growth.
Even after years in the market, the Access continues to attract buyers thanks to its reliability, comfort, and refined engine. Personally, this scooter perfectly balances practicality and performance, which explains why it consistently drives Suzuki’s overall sales numbers. Without the Access, Suzuki’s market position would look very different.
Burgman Street Maintains Premium Scooter Appeal
The Burgman Street lineup secured second position with 23,474 units sold. Although sales declined by 8 per cent year-on-year, month-on-month numbers showed slight improvement.
Its maxi-scooter styling still appeals to urban buyers looking for something more premium than conventional scooters. In my opinion, the Burgman still enjoys strong brand recall, but increasing competition in the premium scooter space may be affecting growth.
Avenis Targets Young Riders
Suzuki’s sporty 125cc scooter, the Avenis, recorded 5,068 units in January 2026. Sales improved compared to December but remained down 6 per cent annually.
The Avenis focuses on younger riders with aggressive styling and sporty positioning. However, I feel Suzuki may need stronger feature differentiation to help it compete more aggressively against rivals in this segment.
Motorcycle Portfolio Shows Mixed Results
On the motorcycle side, Suzuki volumes remained modest.
The Gixxer registered 1,211 units, witnessing a 26 per cent year-on-year decline despite improved monthly performance. Meanwhile, the V-Strom SX delivered 688 units, posting a healthy 37 per cent growth.
This clearly shows rising interest in affordable adventure touring motorcycles. Personally, the V-Strom SX continues to perform steadily because it offers touring capability without entering expensive premium territory.
Electric Push Begins with e-Access
The recently introduced e-Access electric scooter recorded 703 units in its early sales phase. Suzuki is currently offering benefits close to Rs 20,000 across India to boost adoption.
While volumes are still small, this marks Suzuki’s gradual entry into the electric mobility space. The real challenge will be expanding charging confidence and competitive pricing.
Premium Motorcycles Remain Niche
Among high-end offerings, the Hayabusa sold 52 units, reflecting a year-on-year decline but improved numbers compared to the previous month.
Other premium motorcycles such as the Gixxer 250 and V-Strom 800 DE recorded limited volumes, while models like the GSX-8R and Katana saw no sales during the month.
This trend highlights an important reality. Premium motorcycles in India remain aspirational purchases rather than volume contributors.
Overall Brand Performance
Suzuki’s January 2026 results underline a clear strategy. Scooters continue to generate scale, while motorcycles strengthen brand identity. The Access 125 remains the company’s strongest pillar, helping Suzuki move ahead of competitors like Royal Enfield and Yamaha in monthly rankings.
From an industry perspective, Suzuki’s next growth phase will likely depend on expanding its EV lineup and refreshing its motorcycle portfolio.
