New Delhi, Aug 12, 2026 — The wait is over for lakhs of Class 12 students who sat the compartment and improvement papers last month. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class 12 supplementary examination result on Wednesday, August 12, with marksheets now live on the board’s official portals as well as DigiLocker and the UMANG app.
The Numbers Behind This Year’s Compartment Round
CBSE’s data shows 2,91,576 candidates had registered for this year’s supplementary round, of whom 2,75,287 actually sat the exam. Within that pool, 1,64,231 students were appearing to clear a compartment subject, while the remaining 1,11,056 were attempting to improve marks they’d already passed.
The pass rate among compartment candidates came in at 53.08%, a notable jump from last year’s 38.36% — a sign, potentially, that this batch found the retake easier to clear than the class of 2025 did.
The supplementary exam, held on July 28, was open to three broad groups: students who fell short of the qualifying mark in one of their five compulsory subjects, six-subject candidates looking to swap out their main subject for an additional one, and students who had already passed but wanted a second shot at boosting a particular score.
This result follows the board’s original Class 12 outcome, announced back on May 13, which had recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.20%, with Trivandrum posting the best regional performance at 95.62%. Admit cards for the supplementary attempt had gone out to both regular and private candidates on July 20.

Students can retrieve their revised marksheet by heading to cbse.gov.in or cbseresults.nic.in and locating the active link for the Class 12 supplementary result. From there:
- Open the result link on the CBSE website.
- Sign in using your roll number, school number and admit card ID (some platforms may also ask for date of birth).
- Enter the CAPTCHA or security code shown on screen.
- Submit the form to pull up your marksheet.
- Download and save the file for safekeeping.
If the CBSE site is slow or unresponsive because of heavy traffic, DigiLocker and UMANG serve as reliable backup channels — both are expected to host the digital version of the marksheet once CBSE completes the upload.
What’s on the Revised Marksheet
The updated scorecard lists the candidate’s name and roll number alongside subject-wise marks — covering theory, practical and internal assessment components where relevant — along with grades and the final qualifying status. Students are encouraged to review every field carefully as soon as they download it.
A Few Precautions Worth Taking
Given how many students try to access results simultaneously, occasional site slowdowns are common right after a declaration. If that happens, waiting a few minutes, trying an alternate portal, or checking during a quieter time of day usually resolves it — repeatedly refreshing the page tends not to help.
CBSE has also cautioned students against trusting unofficial websites or social media accounts claiming to offer faster access, and advised against sharing exam credentials with anyone promising early or expedited results. Should a marksheet contain an error in personal details or marks, the recommended course is to raise it through the school and follow CBSE’s official correction process rather than seeking help through unverified channels.
