Floodwaters from the Ganga and its tributaries, together with Punpun and Dardha, continued to wreak havoc in Patna and adjoining areas on Sunday, aggravated by heavy rains of their catchment zones in Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand.
The Ganga crossed its earlier highest flood degree (HFL) at a number of factors within the state capital. At Gandhi Ghat it stood at 50.57 metres this morning (0.05 metres above the August 2016 mark). At Pandarak it was 43.92 metres (0.19 metres above the 2021 HFL), at Danapur 52.63 metres (0.02 metres above HFL), and at Banka Ghat 49.47 metres (0.03 metres above HFL). Downstream stations, together with Hathidah, stay beneath shut watch, in line with the water assets division and the disaster management division.
A number of different rivers together with the Gandak at Dumariaghat and Hajipur, the Kosi at Baltara and Kursela, the Budhi Gandak at Khagaria, the Punpun at Sripalpur, the Bagmati at Benibad, and the Ghaghra at Darauli, have been flowing above hazard marks.

Swollen river water impacts a number of districts

In the meantime, Opposition leaders, together with RJD’s Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, have demanded that the floods be declared a nationwide catastrophe.
