NEW DELHI: Karnataka Congress president BK Hariprasad on Tuesday hit out on the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) over its demand for the everlasting cancellation of a proposed documentary screening on jailed activist Umar Khalid on the Nationwide Legislation Faculty of India College (NLSIU). Hariprasad known as Khalid a nationalist and questioned the scholar organisation’s ethical authority to touch upon him.Hariprasad mentioned, “Umar Khalid is a nationalist, and ABVP has no proper to talk on him as a result of they adore Nathuram Godse—who was an anti-national and the primary terrorist of the nation. They haven’t any ethical proper.”The remarks got here after the RSS-affiliated scholar organisation sought the Centre’s intervention to completely cancel the proposed screening of the documentary Prisoner No. 626710 is Current, directed by Lalit Vachani, at NLSIU.The screening was not too long ago postponed by the organisers, who cited safety and administrative causes.In a press release on Monday, ABVP Bengaluru claimed it had despatched representations to Union residence minister Amit Shah, Union training minister Pralhad Joshi and Union minister of state (impartial cost) for legislation and justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, looking for their intervention.
