A 40-year-old lady in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania has died of problems from measles, in keeping with the county’s coroner.
It marks the third vaccine-preventable, measles-linked dying within the US this yr. All three have occurred in Pennsylvania, which is experiencing an explosive outbreak that has induced over 670 cases and 124 hospitalizations across 37 counties. Prior to those deaths, Pennsylvania had not reported a measles dying in 35 years.
In a news release dated September 12, Jefferson County Coroner Greg Furlong stated the dying within the lady was “a heartbreaking loss for the household and an unlucky reminder that measles is usually a severe and probably life-threatening illness.”
