The biggest talking point of the month was the Urban Cruiser Hyryder dethroning the long-reigning Innova as Toyota’s best-selling model. The Hyryder sold 10,206 units in March 2026, up 93% year-on-—justjust 50 units more than the combined sales of the Innova Hycross and Crysta at 10,156 units. It was not a one-off performance ei—the the Hyryder outsold the Innova thrice in FY2026, though the MPV retained its title as TKM’s best-selling model for the full fiscal year with 112,186 units to the Hyryder’s 99,890 units.

The Hyryder’s USP remains strong hybridbrid petrol powertrain, with a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.97 kpl. The momentum was further aided by strategic product moves during the —the the Hyryder Aero Edition with its front spoiler, rear spoiler, and side skirts added visual appeal, while the Rs 29,499 Tech Package introduced in late January 2026 added features a safetyfety kit that helped sustain buyer interest through the final months of the fiscal year.

The Innova range — comprising both the Crysta and Hycross — held its ground with 10,156 units in March. While the year-on-year growth was a modest 3%, the lineup recorded a notable 17% month-on-month jump, underscoring its persistent relevance in both private and fleet segments.

Perhaps the most striking number of the month belonged to the Rumion. The MPV posted 3,892 units, translating into a staggering 1year-over-yearyear growth and a 38% jump over February5—the the highest percentage gain among all models in Toyota’s portfolio. The Fortuner, meanwhile, continued its composed run with 3,795 units, growing 12% over the same month last year and 23% over the preceding month.

On the other end, the Glanza edged down marginally by 1% year-on-year to 3,470 units, and the Urban Cruiser Taisor slipped 19% YoY to 2,815 units. Low-volume models including the Hilux, Vellfire, and Land Cruiser 300 also posted year-on-year declines in March.

Looking ahead, the Urban Cruiser Eb—Toyota’sta’s first electric vehicle for I—is— is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki eVitara and is among the brand’s most anticipated upcoming launches. Exports also posted sharp growth of 41% for the full year, reflecting increasing acceptance of India-manufactured Toyota vehicles in overseas markets.

With the Hyryder now nipping at the Innova’s heels and the Rumion emerging as an unexpected high-growth model, Toyota’s India playbook appears to be wor—and and FY2027 could see the balance of power within its own lineup shift further.
